11 am CERF appointment time translates to a 4:30 am start in the morning to get this show on the road. Truck packed like a giant diaper bag for 10 babies , for all those incases that might happen while traveling.
Pups fed early so they can have a good run and POOP before loading up.
My morning chores done in the dark with gates double checked all are latched...my biggest fear is animals getting out on the highway when everyone is dashing out the door for work.
Always good to have a favor owed to you and play that card for a traveling companion for the help that is appreciate as you pack pups, crates,water, pails, paper and x-pens ( clean up supplies ) from the parking lot and through all the sets of doors...
Then each pup gets examined before drops and after drops.
Everyone cleared their eye exam. Thanks Deb for all the help.

Clocks keep ticking....
Love seeing the Canadians arrive back on the prairies, this pair landed on old shed in the neighbor yard...I'm sad to see them leave in the fall as winter is on their tail but look forward to the migration back ...spring is around the corner....wish they had brought some sunshine/warmth along with them...ground still frozen...sun doesnt feel warm yet.Friday, March 12, 2010

At the Training building...
The 2 red heads ended up with the baths today...didnt trim any hair ( ears and feet need it on these two )They had a hoot at the building. I regret not purchasing the talking ball that was in a booth at Nationals. Deb brought hers and they loved it. Thanks as well sis for helping to straighen & wash mats.
First private lessons at the building went well and ended up with more dogs signed up for the 6 wk session in both obedience
and agility. Got the walls sanded where I filled a few cracks between lessons. Everything is prepped with tape soooo just need
to decide on color and get'er done.
Will take a few pups with me to the building each time I go in to town....time to leave their siblings for a few hours each day....building makes it easier since it's still winter out.
The more I hurry, the behinder I get....
5 hours ate up yesterday shoveling snow on my church corner lot & going to next town to pick up mats.
Came home to discover Sting and pups had gotten loose during that time.
Broken X-pen clip .... 5 pups loose where I just nicely caught up on some laundry but hadnt taken upstairs...as well a couple of garbage bags that needed to
be hauled to town to a dumpster....makes for a hell of a mess with runners dragged in for good measure. Thinking to myself ' I dont have time for this' as I come down the stairs...pups all dancing with full butt wiggles as they had a grand time entertaining themselves. They were feeling pretty pleased with themselves.
Put a small dent in the clean up before heading outside to do supper chores and then back to town to drop off mats to roll out in the morning.
Have time to either bath a couple of pups /take their pictures or tackle the basement before laying mats / lessons today.
Husband gone early both mornings so all farm morning chores are mine to do besides the evening ones. Forgot to pick up new rubber boots last
time I was in town...guess a bag inside a boot will work for another day. Mornings ...mud is still froze.
Havent seen coyotes last few days....the 308 was enough of a deterrant for the time being.
Really havent worked dogs outside of Quade ( chores ) last few wks amongst a few other things falling by the way side.
Havent had time to sit on the phone with airlines nor check online yet.

Coyotes with lambing season around the corner....
Sewer being worked on ...bigger pump put in and tank currently being pumped out by Vac truck....I'm not getting much done with no water at the moment.
My truck is in the city getting the end gate replaced at the dealers since the cap they put on rubbed it down to the metal...it was put on incorrectly....so cant slip in to town to sand/paint walls. Got a phone call letting me know my business sign is finished and ready for pickup....cant wait to see how it looks.
Two coyotes in the cow/calf pasture by the house early this am, not very afraid of the cows and only going a few feet away from them when chased off. The 308 makes one heck of a KABOOM even more so when shot by a metal shed which acts like an amplifier. 4 shots and they were zig zagging to get out of dodge. I'm concerned with the increasing brazenness of them this year....warm winter making for a good sized coyote population ( no natural enemies on the prairies )
....in talking with other people they are coming into people's farm yards and not too afraid of much.
Typically if a person leaves 'good coyotes' in place you are better off than 'removing' them and having 'bad ' coyotes move in....the ones that hunt your farm livestock. Knock wood we've been lucky over the years since there is a natural wildlife path beside our farm.
Lambing season starts for me in April so new moms will be moved by the barn for safer keeping.....by then the gophers should be active ( which will be on the menu for the prairie coyotes )
