Patience....

Had a good training session with Quade this am which usually involves bringing the sheep to a different grass location and doing what I call some 'patience work' and letting sheep graze in a designated area .... dog relaxes but is mindful of where his sheep are. Every so often we gather them up and do some OLF exercises ( working on 'the lift'/rate as well more distance ) with a few 'get backs' to the mix and then back to grazing. There's not much for fencing where we work so the dog has to be able to cover his stock.

We usually do abit of driving....the 'push' is there with him well in contact and covering the outside eye....but need better 'power steering' as in understanding his inside flanks so we can move from A to B in a purposeful manner. We do keep in mind to always start and end our training sessions with a fetch, that was stressed to me years ago along with other valued advice I've gathered along the way.

Going to a 4 day Sheep camp at Dog Tale Ranch in a couple weeks ( Viklunds / Carter ) that I'm so looking forward to with the crew here. Great instructors, honest sheep and a terrific set up.... along with the comradrie that always can be found amongst the folks that attend these clinics.

Thank you as well, to the numerous "younger" offspring that are &/or well on their way to be as titled in many registeries/venues as the above dogs!We are so proud of everyone!!

And especially THANK YOU to the Stud dog owners who allowed our girls to visit their boys, as it was the combined intelligence, type, soundness, and drivethat produced these incredible Aussies!

sincerely,Cathy, Debbie & Tyler

Sonrise Run For The Roses

The other young gun here is a lovely red merle male from Fran Haskins / Sonrise Kennels.
Getting Derby ready for Nationals and in the process of growing a new coat.
No handling classes in these parts so have to enter shows to 'show train'
any dogs ....can only practise so much of the foundation at home.
Bathed up Derby on thursday and twisted Deb's arm to slip over to groom him
( she does it so much better than 'I' , thanks sis :)
Sent him with her to his first ASCA show where he went RWD - thanks Joyce for lending
at hand to show him. Congrats to litter sister 'Favor' who finished her ASCA Championship at this show.

Wkend brags:

Note from : Sally & Lily....
Lily and I spent four days at an AKC agility trial here, that alternated between hot, sunny days (not good for a black dog) and pouring rain.
Miss Lily did very well and came away with an Excellent Standard Q and a blue ribbon and an Excellent Jumpers Q and a third place....
Best of all, she had fun!
Note from: Dianne & Austin ....
We spent the weekend at a USDAA trial,
Austin Q'd 6 times and finished his Gambler Silver Title (25 Qs) now only needs 1 jumper leg for his ADCH Silver!
Note from Jyl & Mag....Mag got his Novice Fast title at this trial. He now has all his Novice Titles in AKC agility.
