Not sure where you are finding these but get a kick out of getting them sister Janet.

A good day all round, worked Fly and Quade on seperate chores...Quade gets to move cattle off the feed bunk so I can

walk in to dump grain...I got tired of getting squished and ran over by cows as they boss each other for their parking spot at the trough. With Quade it's like parting the red sea...pretty cool with all that power.

Fly is moving the pens to water and stands up the yrly bulls wanting to challenge.

Mike and Loro down for a visit with Grand daughter Jade...growing like crazy...also 'almost walking' on her own.

Got lots of pictures for them.

Wind down...

Winding down on my 6 wk stretch of night shifts, cant wait until March

arrives for a different work load/pace. Using up old vacation time as well have

a number of photo sessions booked which makes for a different kind of ...'busy'.

Down to 2 cows to calve and one ewe to lamb out....we dont have big herds, just enought to make 'work' and around the clock vigilence. Certainly ties one down to the farm. The weather has be incredibly kind.

Just need the moisture to come before spring arrives.

Since I put off Fly's litter until later this year have been using her for cattle chores and getting her to 'steady' up,
move stock out of the pens etc. Good practial chore work until I can work the sheep later on.
The cross I have in mind for Fly will be Working, MVA/Performance prospects..and most likely an all red litter.

Dark reds too boot.

Thanks sister Janet for sending me the cute cartoon strip, dog humour is priceless.

I havent hibernated...

Calving season is here.
Weird weather for January , not much of anything for snow or cold temps until today.
Calving going ok, going on little sleep since I came off of night shift from work to night checks at home
...once a person is outside at night, just too hard to fall back asleep if a person does at all.
Not getting much else done , nor feel any great burning desire to do so. Will be glad when there is a break and
a person can re-energize...have lots to do and catch up on.
Bonus, spring is a couple months away. Part of the winter has breezed by. Looking forward to a couple of
herding clinics and trials. Which also means catching up with old friends since winter calving ties a person
down to the farm.
New evestroughing now up on the building and have ordered windows for the south side. Still need to
get some painting done on both inside and outside , may just need to hire those jobs to ensure it just gets
done this year. ( I hate painting :)
Next set of dog classes filled up and looks like I may need to add another evening for the overflow. Have a few
private lessons booked during the day....so things are pretty steady in that dept.
